Will boarding up my windows and doors also help against break-ins?

Yes. Securely fastened plywood over a broken window or damaged door closes off an obvious entry point, which matters after a storm knocks out a window or after a break-in has already happened. Board up and tarp over address both the weather exposure and the security gap at the same time.

Do you document the damage for insurance purposes?

Yes. We photograph and document your property's condition before and after securing it, giving you a clear record for your claim. We recommend contacting your insurance provider promptly to verify your coverage and start the claims process.

Will a tarped roof still leak during heavy rain?

A properly installed tarp is designed to keep a damaged roof dry, but it's a temporary fix. We check tarped roofs after significant rain to confirm they're holding up. If water enters before repairs begin, our team can extract it and dry the affected area.

Can board up and tarp over service help after a house fire?

Yes, once the fire department has cleared the property for entry. Fire damage often leaves windows broken, doors removed, or sections of roof and wall burned through, all of which need to be secured before rain, wind, or pests can add a second layer of damage to a home already dealing with fire and smoke.

Do you serve homeowners outside Osceola and Chariton?

Yes. We provide board up and tarp over service throughout South Central Iowa, including Osceola in Clarke County, Chariton in Lucas County, and the surrounding South Central Iowa communities. Contact our team to see whether we serve your area.

Is board up and tarp over a permanent repair?

No, it's a temporary protective measure meant to hold until full repairs or reconstruction can begin. Plywood and tarping keep weather and intruders out for days or a few weeks, giving you time to work with your insurance provider and plan the next phase of restoration without your home sitting exposed.

What does board up and tarp over service actually include?

It includes securing every opening a storm, fire, or break-in has left in your home. That typically means boarding broken windows and damaged doors with exterior-grade plywood and covering damaged roof sections with heavy-duty tarps anchored to withstand wind. The goal is to fully seal off your home from the weather and unauthorized entry until repairs can begin.

How quickly can you respond after storm or fire damage?

We provide 24/7 emergency response because a damaged roof or a broken window doesn't wait for business hours. Our local crew serves South Central Iowa directly, and getting board up and tarp over service in place quickly is often what keeps a repairable loss from turning into a larger rebuild.

How Our Board Up and Tarp Over Process Protects Your Home

Board up and tarp over service is usually the first call a homeowner makes after a storm, fire, or break-in, and the goal is simple: stop a bad situation from getting worse. Our crew arrives with plywood, heavy-duty tarps, and fasteners built to withstand Iowa wind, then secures every opening left by the damage. We board up broken windows and damaged doors to keep the interior protected from weather and unwanted entry, and we cover torn or punctured roofing with tarping anchored well past the damaged section. This work doesn't repair your home. It protects what's left of it while we plan the restoration or reconstruction that follows, and we document the damage for your records along the way.

What Our Emergency Board-Up and Roof Tarping Team Handles

Fire damage is one of the most common reasons homeowners call for board up and tarp over service. After the fire department clears a property, windows may break during ventilation, and sections of the roof or walls may be exposed, leaving the home vulnerable to weather, pests, and unauthorized entry. Storms, break-ins, and vandalism can also create the need for emergency board-up and tarp-over services. Whatever caused the damage, we treat securing the property as the first priority before restoration or reconstruction begins.
Every property is different, so our crew inspects the full extent of the damage before securing anything. We cover broken or missing windows with exterior-grade plywood, cut to fit and fastened securely rather than propped in place, and we treat damaged exterior doors the same way. Roof tarping calls for a different approach. Our team pulls tarps taut across the damaged section and anchors them well beyond the compromised area, since wind can work under a loose edge and undo the protection within hours. We also check attic spaces for moisture that may have gotten in before we put up the tarp. We board garages and sheds the same way if a storm, fire, or break-in reaches them, and we walk the property with you afterward to explain what we did.
Board up and tarp over service is a temporary measure, not a finished repair, and we're upfront about that from the start. Plywood and tarping can hold for days or a few weeks, giving you time to contact your insurance provider, verify your coverage, and file your claim without leaving your property exposed. Once the immediate threat is contained, our team can move into the next phase, whether that's water extraction from rain that got in before we arrived, structural drying, or a reconstruction plan for the damaged roof, wall, or opening. We document the original damage and the securing work performed, giving you a clear timeline of what happened. Many homeowners throughout Winterset, Creston, and surrounding South Central Iowa communities appreciate having one local crew handle both the emergency board-up and the repair work that follows.
